Doxology
29.01.2013

Reinventing traditional music has been the focus of Mishas latest and sixth album, 'Doxology', in which she has included only songs dated between the 15th and 19thcenturies by composers such as; Martin Luther, Joachim Neander and Bernhard of Claivaux. The re-arranged material is delivered with a first-rate, creative and extremely focused jazz accompaniment, in order to reimagine the traditional sounds as they take the listener from the 12th century to today.

"I kind of peel off the too often heard musical verbiage to find the core of the songs and then try to build them up anew, so they can be listened to with a fresh ear."

Recorded in Brooklyn, New York in the summer of 2011 and produced by J.D. Walter, “Doxology” features a who’s who of the current NYC jazz scene; Wallace Roney (trumpet), Orrin Evans (piano), Vince Ector (drums) and Steve Varner (bass).
